This week we received canaelli beans, red romaine lettuce, red butter lettuce, red onions, cilantro, cabbage, lemon cucumbers, and sweet corn. LJ described the butter lettuce as "a perfect looking head of lettuce" and it really is. I'm excited to try the canaelli beans in a soup. They would normally be dried for storage but these are fresh beans so you don't have to worry about soaking them overnight.
Last weekend we also checked out the Chehalis Garlic Festival. We enjoyed some garlic fries and deep fried garlic cloves and came home with two pounds of seed garlic (we initially bought just a pound but it was the last day of the festival and the price was so good I had to go back for more). Our hope is we can pawn some of the garlic off on our parents who will plant it in their gardens, we will plant some in our tiny backyard, and we will eat any that is left over.
I believe my comment was, "This lettuce is just so...beautiful."
