Chocolate Chip Cookies: The Best I've Ever Had

Okay, maybe the title is a bit of an overstatement, but they have to be the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever made.  I used this recipe from the Simply Recipes blog, but instead of pecans I used walnuts and didn't add the coconut because a) we didn't have any and b) HH isn't coconut's biggest fan.  They turned out chewy and delicious, at least in part to the browned butter that starts the cookies off right.  The rest of the recipe is a pretty basic oatmeal chocolate chip cookie recipe and definitely a keeper.

The butter starting to cook

The butter browning

The brown bits left behind from the butter

Butter, sugars, and wet ingredients
The dry ingredients

The dry ingredients are added in

Then the chocolate chips and nuts

Finally, the oats

I rolled up most of the dough into balls, froze them on a tray, then packed them into containers for fresh cookies whenever we want
Finished cookies cooling on the silicon mat

Yum!
